How to Upload Your Review to the Internet Movie Database

Though I talked about how to apply to IMDb’s External Reviews and bulk upload reviews and how to apply to IMDb’s NewsDesk, today I am bringing you a video tutorial on the process of uploading your review to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), previously presented in written form here: How to Submit Single Reviews to IMDb’s External Reviews. The video walk-through shows how a film or TV critic can upload a single review for a film or TV show into IMDb’s External Review database for public consumption.

Reasons to Upload your Review to IMDb

1. If you are new to promoting your review on the internet, IMDb is a great source to generate a small amount of traffic to your website. It is also a medium to put your review before the eyes of many people in the entertainment industry and numerous people around the world who might not otherwise find your review.

Don’t be fooled though, most industry people only read the reviews from name-brand websites and critics of repute.

2. Validation by association. Simply by having your review present on IMDb validates it in some small way. It says, to some, that this is quality or it wouldn’t be here. IMDb’s mystique, in part, rubs off on you.

3. Giving your perspective on a film or TV show before it is widely available, if you attend an advanced press screening (receive a screener or are given a screen link), garners far more attention from the public and industry personnel than it would if you publish it during a general audience release. IMDb helps get some of those eyes on your copy, it lets them know that a review for this film or TV show is available.

4. The previous point leads to this point – your review on IMDb is an advertisement i.e. “I’m here, this site that I write for is here, and I can write” (hopefully you can). IMDb is the platform, the billboard, on which that advertisement is contained.
