Facebook Disabling My Personal Account Killed My Sites’ Facebook Pages, Groups, & Half a Million Followers

The Result of My Disabled Facebook Personal Account

My personal account on Facebook disappeared, as if it never existed.

All of the Facebook Pages that I created disappeared, including the official ones for my websites that had been online for nearly a decade.

All the automatic updating of the pages and groups that I had created were shut down. You need admin privileges to initiate such updating and I no longer existed on Facebook.

My name and profile from all of the groups that I had created was erased, though the groups are still there. Ninety-nine percent of them I was the sole admin of and I had disabled random people from being able to post. Many of the groups with hundreds and thousands of followers have not been able to post for months.

My websites’ traffic have taken a hit because of this situation. A percentage of my sites’ audience were from Facebook via page and group followers. That audience has been completely wiped out.

A wave of depression hit me and it was difficult to shake. I didn’t want to publish articles anymore on my sites. I didn’t want to because the readership of those publications had been diminished by a sizable degree. I had put so much time and effort into those groups, building friendships, acquaintances, partnerships, being combative when need be, and funny on other occasions.

A few of the groups have new admins. A Facebook provision allows for new admins to be elected by the group’s followers, I had no idea such a provision existed, and those new admins have thrown out all of the descriptions, photos, back-links, and interlinking between groups that I had put in place.

Seeing someone else admin the Facebook groups that I built from scratch is like the Internet suddenly taking away the websites that I built and giving them away. The worst part, there is no one to talk to at Facebook, no human interface with whom to reconcile this situation.

These new admins didn’t build those forums, those audiences, yet now they are shepherding those groups as if they did.

A person in this situation, I can’t be the only one, feels powerless, helpless, and victimized.
