I believe a logo should reflect what the website theme is about so that there is a clear flow and it will be easy for audience to identify with as it will be capture into their mind. Simple yet creative use of the text is my preferred kind of logo.

i think logos are your company's identity and therefore alot of effort and time must be put in designing logos. you must always hire a professional logo designer even if it costs you a little.

I don't agree. I have wasted over $250 on a custom logo in the past and have also paid $50 for a logo and you know what? I had a better overall experience with the $50 logo design company. Price is not always "you get what you pay for" - there are very talented freelancers and companies who have taken schooling in their respected fields and come from other parts of the world where they do not need to charge $500 a pop to make a living.

It is time to get with the times and realize that people now have options and low price doesn't always relate to cheap quality. This is a world wide marketplace and the competition is fierce. By taking a little time and doing a little research, you can save yourself hundreds of dollars and even more when it comes to web design. You shouldn't go bashing lower cost logo designers/companies purely based on your opinion and not the facts.

It is funny how designers who can't compete with the low prices keep screaming the "you get what you pay for" line. It is getting old and really holds no merit anymore when it comes to working in a global marketplace.
